...converted to Svitzer Ellerby now but still a tad patchy,next pic fully done in the Bluey Svitzer hull... ...albeit by hand,will probably get a full doing in her next drydocking?... ..new build CFL PROSPECT arriving for King George Dock,bit of a dull misty morning and a bugger to apprecaite the colouring against the grey background,hopefully will get some better shors as she is discharged in better light?... She was in for a crew change,divers etc...and was heading off to somehwere 20 miles off Yarmouth to work. The first couple of pics are a tad dull as they were taken on the Tuesday and it was raining,I went around the dock taking the usual different angles as she was due to sail at 5am the next morning,but as luck would have it she cancelled and with Wednesday being a nice sunny day the rest of the collection turned out better. Tried my hand at a couple of night shots too,had to crop em a bit as nearly all the lower half of the pics contained my car roof as it was where I rested the camera (have since been given a tripod but not had chance to use it yet). ]]> Mon Oct 15 2007 TEES - 10th September (99 images) http://boatman.fotopic.net/c1374018.html A second trip up to the South Gare with Phil Simpson provided yet more new sightings.The two local dredgers 'Cleveland County' and 'Heortnesse' were in and out from the approach channel to the deposit all the while we were there. A different Pilot cutter,Crofter,was back and forth this time,I only saw her the once on the last trip as one of the newer cutters was doing the work. A description as to where the vessels are bound is posted under the first pic of each as in the last Tees collection. Including Tugs and the Anchorage,19 sightings for the trip...was well chuffed! There were many in the anchorage,most of which proved to be new sightings,Ive posted distant shots of these,quality not much good,so hopefully get them in or out on a future visit. The two Peters from who we met last visit were there again to provide updated movements and great conversation,hope to see you again soon guys although with us losing the light fast now it may be a while. Bye for now ;-) I wasn't all that impressed with the pictures when I got home as I had bought a new lense for my camera,which I reckon had been dropped in the post,the damn thing rattles a bit and when you take a picture,if you keep looking through the lense as the image has been taken and being recorded to the card theres a clicking sound and the image drops slightly,I think the image is being recorded onto the card out of focus because of this...any comments would be welcome. Therefore most of the images have been sharpened a tad,you may also notice a difference in shade to the pics,this isnt due to doctoring,its just I was messing around with different settings on the camera,the darker images with the more intense coulours are on the Auto setting,the lighter paler ones are one the Landscape setting,I havent gotten that daring yet as to try the A,S,P,M settings yet....time will tell,lol. ..Scot Trader sporting a newish blue livery,she was grey last time I saw in her June 06... ..I'd have been happy with the bow shot as in image No 21 but thanks to Kev for letting me board the Fast Sam and getting this better shot from stood on her stern,cheers Kev... ...Linda Marijke possibly showing signs of a colour change as her full stern end is grey,unless its just a prima before they re do the blue???...

]]> Wed Sep 19 2007 HMS BOUNTY with tugs 29th August (52 images) http://boatman.fotopic.net/c1360387.html A selection of images showing the arrival and berthing of the HMS BOUNTY which is visiting Hull for part of the Sea Shanty weekend. She was escorted upriver by SMS Englishman,HT Cutlass,HT Sword and HT Scimitar. I went to King George viewpoint for a few shots of her passing,the car park was absolutely chocker,couldnt get another car on,I only just got off as I was blocked in. After she passed I headed up to Albert Dock and took up a good vantage point on the knuckle where she would have to spring round to approach the entrance to the dock,chance of some decent shots. There I was snapping away when the Dockmaster called me on the VHF and asked me if I could see her into the lock as the assigned Boatage firm hadnt turned up,how could I refuse really?...not very often you get to tie a ship like this up,plus it got me the chance to appear on Look North,when I got in that night I caught a glimpse of the news and it showed the arrival of her been filmed from onboard and as the crew threw the heaving line for me to heave in the spring line I was caught on camera...my kids were shouting like mad,Dad your on the Tele with the Pirate Ship..haha,fame at last!...good job I Sky+ it,they keep watching the clip...bless em! ]]> Sat Sep 1 2007 WHITBY 26th August (67 images) http://boatman.fotopic.net/c1360368.html A selection of images showing the goings on in Whitby on 26th August.I was coming to the end of my 2 weeks off so decided on a drive out with the family to see where we ended up.Had a stop off at Robin Hoods Bay as I'd never been before,took a few snaps and manged to egt the Dutch Navigator passing the cliff edge,couldnt believe it,all the way there and see a vessel I berth at Saltend within 5 mins of being there,lol. Had a ride out in Whitby on the old Lifeboat which was enjoyed by all. Hope you like these images,all comments welcome. First sighting of the day (and a new one) was the Nicola inbound for Tees Dock No2 berth from Bilbao,bit distant as they were quickly taken while sat in the car from the approach road... ..distant shot of a supply type in the anchorage,dont know the name of this one??? ...first decent set of images of the day show another new sighting in the form of the Tanker Berge Odin inbound for North Tees No3 Jetty from Braefoot Bay... ...thought this one was effective,a wave crashed against the rocks just as I took the shot... ...view of the Steelworks... ...distant shot showing a couple of vessels lighting their loads,both will eventually end up at Immingham... ...to the left is B W Arctic berthed at Redcar Ore Terminal,discharging some cargo to lessen draught so she is able to get to Imminham and to the right is Minerva Maya loading at Phillips No1 Jetty... ..a few random shots of this Pilot cutter will be scattered around this collection as she ferried Pilots too and from the vessels... ...only had this one once before on a jaunt to Spurn Point,the Baltic Tern outward from Tees Dock No9 berth and heading for Rotterdam,she was a regular runner for us a few years ago into King George Dock 9 Quay... ...a second Pilot cutter High Force dashes back and forth too... ...the dradger Cleveland County,another new sighting,seen outward ...first and only Tug of the day was the Svitzer Bootle,seen outward heading for Hartlepool to assit in the sailing of the Vera Mukhina (seen diatant later in collection)... ...Tees Navigator survey craft seen heading out... ..another new sighting Philine Schulte seen inbound for Phillips No3 Jetty from Tees Bay Anchorage... ...another new sighting Norsky seen inward for Tees Dock No2 RoRo berth from Zeebrugge... ...distant shot of the Vera Mukhina outward from Victoria Dock Hatlepool...

]]> Sat Sep 1 2007 Hessle Foreshore and North Ferriby 12th August (26 images) http://boatman.fotopic.net/c1360351.html Due to my E8800 packing up after the last collection and me now on my 2 weeks holiday,drastic action had to be taken as I wasnt gonna be without as camera for my hols so I treat myself to my long awaited DSLR. This collection is the start of images taken with it and I must apologise for the quality of the images until I get used to using the damn thing.I did what I normally did with the Coolpix and just had it on auto but in some shots in tended to over compensate in the colours and they came out raelly strong and made the images look false or doctored...but it dunt happen overnight so future updates should slowly get better...it was till a future update when I was at the Tees did I stumble upon a better setting for better images..no doubt you will probably notice in that collection. Still..Ill have a play around with it and see how I go,I dont by any means regard myself as a photographer anyway,Im just ya run a the mill point n shoot kinda guy,lol! Another thing I did notice too is when I resize them to go on the site,I resize them as normal to 1024x768 but they tend to come out as 1024x685...dunno why that is,unless the starting image is a different size to what the Coolpix was??? Stopped off at Foreshore first as I was a tad early for the first of the upriver stuff that I had come for and tried my luck at a few fast moving shots of the Jetskiers that were flying about,I was quite chuffed at the outcome of some of them... ...first of the upriver traffic,see how the colours are really bold and vivid,dunno if I like em like this but Ill have a play about with it and see how I go... ...friend and ship enthusiast Phil Simpson joined me for the afternoon... ...maybe this was the cause of some of the images turning out dark,sun behind the clouds,still it made for a good shot I suppose,lol...

]]> Sat Sep 1 2007 Hull and Humber Clipper Yacht with Clipper Yachts in Marina and Departing 27th to 29th July (82 images) http://boatman.fotopic.net/c1360242.html A selection of images showing the recently arrived Clipper Yahcts berthed in the Hull Marina with the winner Hull and Humber taking centre stage. And the Clipper Yachts departing from the Marina as well as a couple departing from Albert Dock. I had a vessel to berth into Albert Dock that night so managed a good vantage point on the approach to the dock to get some cracking images of them with the fading sun right on em in parts,especially in some where the sun is behind me and the backdrop the the Yacht is blackened cloud,made for a good effect. I'd put my vessel through the lock and lucky for me it took its time getting to the berth so managed to get the fleet of Clipper Yachts,(escorted by SMS Englishman with its cannons going),in full splendour in the sun outward bound...well chuffed with some of these images. I had a vessel to berth into Albert Dock that night so managed a good vantage point on the approach to the dock to get some cracking images of them with the fading sun right on em in parts,especially in some where the sun is behind me and the backdrop the the Yacht is blackened cloud,made for a good effect. I'd put my vessel through the lock and lucky for me it took its time getting to the berth so managed to get the fleet of Clipper Yachts,(escorted by SMS Englishman with its cannons going),in full splendour in the sun outward bound...well chuffed with some of these images. ]]> Sat Sep 1 2007 Hull Docks-North Ferriby-Paull 24th to 27th July (70 images) http://boatman.fotopic.net/c1360213.html A selection of images taken between 24th and 27th July...best part of which being my first trip up to North Ferriby to get the movements now that the River channel has been moved. Wasnt a bad first venture out and will definately be back again. Will probably post a comment under the pics at a later date,as for now just wanna get the collections on...3 down 18 to go...phew! Ive had around 4200 pics to troll through from over the past month or so and the outcome is the next 21 collections contaning around 1100 images. Thanks to all the people who bombarded me with emails concerned as to if there was anything major wrong..not sure if they were concerned about me or the website,but thanks anyway,LOL ;-) Hope you enjoy the next 21 collections and you feel as if it was worth the wait. Im posting them up between jobs tonight so they should all be on by tommorow,if I can keep my eyes open,LOL. As always comment are welcome.
